Where Progress And Pleasant Living Meet
Anna Illinois
Located In Union County Illinois

Shawnee National Forest

Our Anna office is located just a little bit south of the east-west Rt. 13 corridor.  Anna is just a mile east of Jonesboro, the Union County seat.  Together these two “sister cities” form a unique and pleasant community that presides over the county with modern efficiency and old-fashioned benevolence.

Rich in tradition and history, Southern Illinois has taken progressive steps to assure that the residents have a high quality of life.

The recently expanded Union County Hospital meets the everyday and emergency healthcare needs, while regionally, Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, as well as hospitals in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Paducah, Kentucky provide state of the art healthcare facilities with all specialties.

Many excellent area schools are supplemented by three nearby junior colleges, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Varied historical, civic, social, and fraternal clubs cater to interest groups of all ages.  Many interesting new and historic homes, fine community centers, plentiful churches, varied restaurants, and modern retail businesses attest to a quality lifestyle equal to any in America.

The chief beneficiaries of our agreeable climate are recreation and agriculture, one of our top industries. With an average rainfall of 40 inches a year and a 12-inch frost line, many crops can be profitably grown.

In fact, there are probably very few areas in the nation as diversified as Southern Illinois in the variety and abundance of their money crops. Thousands of acres are devoted to fruit orchards, primarily apple and peach.  Grapes and strawberries are big moneymakers too.

Extensively cultivated truck crops include tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant, cucumbers, beans, and more.  Many farm stands and farmers’ markets keep the locals supplied with fresh fruits and vegetables from March through October.

Rich fields of Mississippi bottomland yield bumper crops of corn, soybeans, wheat, milo, rice, alfalfa and other pasture crops.  Stock farming has steadily increased over the years, with many purebred herds of beef and dairy cattle now earning their keep in the area.
